Image 116: A 1x1 image, likely be a tacker probe Amazon Customer](javascript:void(0)) 5 out of 5 stars Honest ARC Review This was my first ever ARC so thank you to Claire Fraise and StoryOrigin. I found this author while scrolling TikTok and she promised Criminals Minds x Saw x Supernatural. I never watched Supernatural and my last paranormal book was a dud but as a true crime girlie the ghost hunting of serial killers spoke to me. I'm so glad I took a chance on this book because WOW! While this had inspiration from other shows and film it never once felt like it was a straight ripoff or fanfic (which no shade, I enjoy fanfiction) The plot was interesting and unique and I devoured this book within a couple days. Yes, it is long which might be a turn off to some people, but I never felt bored or that any portion was unnecessary. Naturally the first book of a series will have more of an introduction. I appreciate the knowledge and care that went into explaining the ghost hunting process. I also think a proper amount of the story was spent on the actual Trials, which some people may disagree with. Each character was well written. You can tell a lot of thought went into their backstories. Eden was great as a main character. A lot of unfortunate things have happened to her but she is never whiney about it like I've seen some characters written. She does what she needs to do to make things happen, and despite everything she never stops seeing the best in people. I may be biased as an owner of a geriatric chihuahua, but her dog Bob was an amazing addition. I'm usually a good judge of character but I could not figure Nico out, and I will not elaborate further to avoid spoilers. I will say though I did not feel as this was enemies to lovers because my girl was down bad from the time she punched him. Maybe more forced proximity? Who cares, it works no matter what you call it. The rest of the team is great as well. I love how quickly they accepted Eden when all she ever wanted was to belong. The found family aspect is fantastic and I can't wait to see it grow. Griffin is also easily a fan favorite. I was sold at "Hey there, spirits. It's me. Ya boy" I don't want to ramble too much and ruin any of the storyline, so my honest review is read this book!!! Check the trigger warnings first if this isn't your usual vibe because it is indeed dark, but it is so well written and captivating. I will be impatiently waiting for the next case. I originally read this as an ARC on my Kindle but I have since ordered the hardcover because I loved it so much and the book is STUNNING!
