The 7-10 Split

For high school teacher Ava Williams, some subjects are strictly off-limits—especially the complicated history she shares with Grace Jones. Once inseparable best friends and competitive bowling nerds, their bond fractured years ago after a single, confusing kiss. Now, Grace has unexpectedly returned to their small Georgia town to teach at the same school, and the old sparks are immediately replaced by fresh friction. The rivalry hits a breaking point when the school principal awards the coaching position for the brand-new bowling team—a program Ava fought years to establish—to Grace instead. Forced to co-coach, the pair must navigate their intense professional competition while buried feelings bubble to the surface. Utilizing the classic enemies-to-lovers trope, the narrative masterfully explores the blurred lines between former friendship and undeniable attraction. As they work to lead their team to victory over the next six months, the high-stakes environment pushes them together, forcing them to confront the wounds of their past. Filled with witty banter, palpable chemistry, and a slow-burn romance that is as satisfying as it is authentic, this sapphic sports comedy proves that in both life and bowling, the most difficult splits are the ones worth fighting to bridge.

See all formats and editions For fans of Ashley Herring Blake’s Delilah Green Doesn’t Care and Chencia C. Higgins' D'Vaughn and Kris Plan a Wedding comes an utterly charming and queerly irresistible romantic comedy…where all’s fair in love and bowling. This is how love rolls… For teacher Ava Williams, some subjects are not up for debate. Like history—specifically, the one she has with Grace Jones, bowling pro and local celeb. Who is now, for no identifiable reason, teaching at the same small-town Georgia high school as Ava. Once upon a time, they were thick as thieves, best friends, rivals who pushed each other, and total bowling nerds. Then they shared a kiss, sweet and confusing…and after that, they split and nothing was ever the same. Ava is pretty sure she has every reason to hate Grace. Especially when the school’s soggy potato of a principal announces—finally—that the students can have the bowling team Ava has been pushing for, for years…only to hand it to Grace. Now they’re expected to be partners and lead their new bowling team to victory in six months. And with that, their rivalry is back. Fierce, ultracompetitive…and with an undeniable attraction that pushes, pulls and crashes together. It’s history. It’s chemistry. And it’s just a matter of time before it explodes…one way or the other. ) Previous slide of product details 1. Listening Length 8 hours and 19 minutes 2. Author Karmen Lee 3. Narrator Amina Sali 4. Black Sapphic Sports Romance

Image 72: A 1x1 image, likely be a tacker probe Amazon Customer](javascript:void(0)) 4 out of 5 stars Black Sapphic Sports Romance I really enjoyed this, it took me a while to finish since I was in the midst of finals but once I got into it I couldn’t put it down. As a future teacher who also grew up queer, reading this book I felt I could understand both Ava and Grace and the apprehension behind starting a relationship. The tension with not quite understanding the line between friendship and attraction, and seeing it blend was so satisfying. It felt very reminiscent to the experience most queer people have growing up with this lack of understanding their own attraction/sexuality. I felt very seen throughout this book, and while normally I hate being perceived, it added to the experience. I really enjoyed them finding their way back to each other and rekindling their friendship before taking anything further. I felt like that added to the authenticity of their relationship. Overall, a very cute read that I would definitely recommend to people looking for a cute and diverse sapphic romance!
