AMAZING contemporary romance!

Not Another Love Song is a contemporary romance about two musicians, a violinist and a cellist, who fall in love. The story captivated me from the very beginning with gripping, tension-filled romance and superb writing. The intricately woven story with flawed, but well developed characters, and the use of music in every part of the story drove this one all the way home for me! I loved the supporting cast almost as much as I loved our main characters, with Jacob being my favorite. So many themes run wild in this one, with “belonging” standing front and center for me. Both main characters are searching to belong to someone or something, in their own way, and I admired the author’s ability to forge a path forward for both characters, individually and as a couple. I could truly FEEL the passion while both reading and listening to this book, not only during the love scenes, but in the music. The author went to great lengths to weave together a sensual story using not only the instruments, but the intonation and emotion that can only be experienced through music. Additionally, I loved the nods to pop culture that kept me giggling (“Okay Scooter!”) and the completely swoon worthy quotes that will be stuck in my head forever and ever. SPICE This book is SEXY! Chapter 10 had me panting! Yes, it’s spicy. And quite descriptive. But the way the author incorporates music into the sexy scenes was unlike anything I have read before, and I found myself completely enveloped into the moment. It was perfection. I loved it. HAPPY ENDING Okay, hear me out… this book had ALL the makings for a perfect 5 stars, but I did not love the way the conflict resolution was handled. I wanted Alex to grovel a little more! I wanted to hear them work it out. Instead they forgave and forgot and jumped straight back into bed. And while I’m here for all that, I wish there had been a bit more depth to the resolve. That being said, I loved the final Christmas Day scene where it all came together, and the epilogue was perfection! FINAL THOUGHTS I chose this title as the very first book in my brand new book club, and it did not disappoint! It ended up being a bit spicier than I anticipated, but boy did it give us a lot to talk about! Gwen and Alex are a Top Tier couple that I won’t soon forget!
