I was looking forward to Avery facing some repercussions from his actions in the last book. What we end up with is so much better. Kaleb & Avery’s story hit me right in the chest. The growth in this one is unreal, but what I loved most was finally seeing why Avery is the way he is. He’s constantly fighting to quiet the voices that shaped him, just trying to let himself be who he actually is. Getting to watch that unfold on the page is rare, and it made me love his story even more. And Kaleb…ugh. The way he’s so steady and firm but still gentle with Avery.... perfect.
