Axel and Scarlett chemistry and a friendship that was formed out of trust and compassion. He’s only had eyes for Scarlett since he first saw her. She was the same but fought it out of obligation and loyalty. His kindness and empathy for her during a rough time showed her maybe he’s not so bad. Their bond burns holes in everything around them. Hot and steamy sex mixed with playful banter and lots of food. I love the way he knows food is a love language for Scarlett. I don’t know how they thought it would not get complicated when they were all in after the first encounter. I hate how Axel’s parents treat him. It broke my hear each time he spoke of them. Dante! How could a father treat his daughter the way he does. He definitely has an ulterior motive but what? By the end of the book, I was so disgusted by the lengths that Dante went to trying to keep Axel and Scarlett apart. Whatever his plan for Scarlett’s life is must be a doozy. His need to control her is weird and creepy. He’s definitely in need of his own life and woman. Axel having to choose between the person who disowned him and the one who loves him was a low thing for Dante to pull. I can’t wait for the tables to turn! I’m so ready for the next book!
