Penelope is a master at drawing you into her worlds and making you love her characters even if they’re questionable. Axel is my new favorite. (Tied with Crow) He’s so dang sexy, sweet, lovable and protective. Scarlett’s dad, Dante has caused so much pain for Scarlett and Axel. I wish Scarlett could see her dad for who he really is. I wish Axel could tell her the truth. Dante screws Axel over and goes to Theo, The Skull King, to do business with. He offers his daughter up for marriage to Theo. But he doesn’t realize Theo and Axel are like brothers and have a plan of their own and it’s brilliant. Scarlett still has feelings for Axel even though she thinks Axel cheated on her. She hates him but she loves him. Axel is trying to get Scarlett to trust him again. She doesn’t know that her dad is the one that made Axel do what he did and tore them apart. Axel has been through so much between his parents and Dante. And he doesn’t deserve any of it. I hope he gets his revenge on Dante. And Scarlett opens her eyes and sees her dad is using her like a pawn in a game. He’s greedy and evil. Not wanting to give too much of the book away I’ll just say you need to read it. It’s brilliant. So many lies, betrayal, heartbreak and steam in this book. And what a cliffhanger. I can’t wait till book three for the conclusion.
