This third book in Helena Hunting's Toronto Terror series might be my favorite yet. If you've read this series, you get a sense that there's something between Dallas & Hemi - the way Hemi needles Dallas & he just takes everything she throws at him (including clowns). And now we know that their shared history goes back decades to grade school & Dallas is a boy obsessed since childhood but fumbles his way to show his affection. It's such a sweet & endearing story that is filled with emotion & humor. Quick Overview: Dallas & Hemi grew up together but with two different experiences: Dallas, the popular prom King & Hemi, the outcast that his friends picked on. Dallas has been head-over-heels for Hemi since childhood but she thinks he was behind her worst high school moment. Flash forward to present day, where Hemi is head of PR for Dallas's team. This is his chance to win her over except after a drunk night he makes a mistake that ties them together. In order to save both their reputations & jobs, they go into a fake relationship but can Dallas convince Hemi that his feelings for her are anything but fake? Hemi is a girl after my own heart. I so related to her character - being a strong, direct woman who gets labeled as "too much" yet if she was a man, she'd be known as direct. She goes through it - getting to confront her past at her high school reunion but this time with Dallas by her side. I love the story & when she lets Dallas love her, HEART MELTING! Dallas!!! His love for Hemi going back decades & the way he is head over heels for her, cherishing every moment despite not loving all the PR she makes him do - he knows she is it for him & his determination to show her the truth of their past & how he has always tried to protect her even when he failed - SWOON! He is impulsive but so good natured. And so funny - I mean, anxiety boners!!! I was rolling with laughter. And just like the previous books, the spice is spicy & Dallas is open to let Hemi love him any way she wants to.
