A Masterpiece of Adult High Fantasy Dark Romance

I knew it would push my comfort limits of the dark romance I love but I was unprepared for just how much! If I told my nana about Helfyre, she’d be running to her prayer closet, beads in hand. It’s absolutely amazing; it’s everything I knew and didn’t know I wanted it in a book! The mental health aspects, the normalization of everyone having scars was so beautiful to me and made me feel seen, having multiple characters that were of color gives me so many feels that I can’t really put them into words. My only true criticism was that at times, I had to have my phone and kindle nearby so I could flip to the Script and World section as when Nephelim and Mithra language is spoken it doesn’t always have the meaning italicized next to it to understand what they are saying. However, the author does give you a full glossary and pronunciation guide at the beginning of the book which was an amazing addition that I was thankful for. Koutávi is my favorite! She almost made me cry! She was a comforting hug when you’re drowning in the depths of saddens and yet a force that can only be wielded by a king himself. I was hooked by the first chapter but by the end of Helfyre I was completely wrecked. It was an incredible adventure and the ending… I don’t know how to feel or how I can read anything else. The book hangover is similar to two of my ultimate favorite series. Muriel wove the intricacies of high fantasy with world building and language creation; all the while pouring on a darker level of romance with shadow play, a hellacious grumpy alphahole that you hate to love, and a goddess of a FMC that is sweet as honey, not afraid to show you her emotions, but will set your world ablaze as well. The writing will rival your favorites and keep you lustfully hungry for the next chapter, next page, next sentence, next word. I don’t buy physical books and do not have a bookcase but let me tell you… I will be buying the physical copy as soon as it’s available and every special addition if she so chooses to release. If you are considering reading Helfyre or it’s in your TBR, buy it and move it to the front. Move it to your current read!
