Okay, I freaking loved this book! I love that the second book takes a slightly darker and spicier turn—it’s not that there’s more spice, but it’s definitely more openly written, detailed, and seriously hot! Coen, baby, that filthy mouth! His struggles while Rayna was getting her memories back?! And he never stopped loving her, never rushed her, just patiently waited for her to get there on her own. I loved that he wasn’t moping around or acting like a jerk—he was still his cocky self in the best way. Rayna was a bit annoying at first, to be honest. I’m not a fan of the lost-memory trope because it feel repetitive, but this one was really well done. Her journey to regain her memories, along with her growth in power and character, was phenomenal. The world and magic system? So well written. It’s complex but easy to understand. And I adore the friendships and all the animals surrounding the characters—it makes this series feel extra special. The ending was emotional—the sacrifice, the cliffhanger… I need to know where Queen Sorronia’s demands will take us next! It’s a long book, but honestly, I wouldn’t cut anything. I still binged it in three days! If you’re into epic adventures, strong friendships, heartbreak, betrayal, love, and hate all wrapped into one, this series is a must-read. I’ll keep recommending this series to everyone!
