Jack and Aurora’s story had me hooked from the start. Jack is a firefighter and basically the dream neighbor, living in Cedar Island, NC. Aurora is a romance author trying to find her footing again after a rough few years. She inherits her great-aunt’s beach house and heads to Cedar Island to get it ready for sale. Jack is patient and steady, even when Aurora is stubborn, grumpy, or pushing him away. His unconditional patience seriously made me melt. Plus, his nickname for her "Roar" was the cutest thing ever. And don’t even get me started on Jack’s dirty talk... it was absolutely on point and made their chemistry even better. One of my favorite lines from him perfectly sums up their dynamic: "I don't pity you, Roar, I'm just waiting for the day when you stop pitying yourself." Ugh, my heart. 🥹 There’s also a small touch of mystery that keeps the story moving without taking away from the romance. If you love small-town settings, slow-burn chemistry, and good guys who still know exactly what to say, you’ll fall for this one just like I did.
